About Lewis

Hello! I’m Lewis Johnson, a recent Animation & VFX graduate from Drexel University specializing in 3D environment art. My primary interests are modeling, texturing, lighting, and look development, and I enjoy building environments that feel believable, inviting, and full of story.

Throughout my time at Drexel, I had the opportunity to work in three professional co-op positions that strengthened both my artistic and technical skills. One of those experiences took me to New Zealand, where I lived and worked abroad, adapting to a new environment while collaborating with an international team. Each role challenged me in different ways and helped shape the artist I am today.

Outside the classroom, I represented Drexel at SIGGRAPH, where I was able to connect with professionals across the animation and visual effects industry and gain insight into the technologies and techniques shaping the future of computer graphics. During my final year, I also worked alongside an incredible team to create The Clock that Forgot to Chime, a five-minute 3D animated short film that served as our senior capstone project. As a 3D artist and generalist, I contributed through modeling, texturing, lighting, and surfacing.

What draws me to animation is its ability to tell stories that resonate with people. Whether I’m crafting an environment, lighting a scene, or developing the details that bring a world to life, I enjoy creating spaces that support a narrative and invite audiences to become immersed in it.

I’m excited to continue growing as a 3D artist and am always looking for opportunities to collaborate, learn, and create meaningful work!
